Let Us Quickly Get To Our Expert’s Point Of View.

Question 1: How do you see the construction industry in the year 2023? Do you think this year will be a “digital year” for construction professionals?

The construction industry is still evolving from a paper-based to a more digital culture. The digital maturity of companies: consultants, contractors, and owner/developers still varies a lot but the common thread is that digital collaboration is more relevant than a couple of years ago.

Companies are more driven to move to cloud-based solutions for document management, collaboration, digital workflows, and more. One of the key elements of success for this digital transformation journey will be building the right teams (skills), choosing the key workflows to digitize, sourcing the appropriate technology, and having support from experienced consultants like ourselves to ease that transition in operations.

Question 2: The construction industry has undergone dynamic changes over the years. What do you consider as the biggest challenge for this industry now?

Technology has evolved so rapidly that the workforce has an unprecedented skills gap. One of the greatest challenges for the industry now is to find motivated talent that keeps up to date with the latest trends and constantly improves the company's standing with its knowledge and capabilities.

Question 3: What potential do you see in the latest construction technology trends? Are they capable of boosting the productivity of construction professionals?

Yes, there's a lot of potential to further improve operations in construction, with AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) currently leading discussions in different markets. Professionals in the industry are exploring applications of these types of advancements in Design, Construction, and Operations.

Also, cloud collaboration is key in simplifying communication between different stakeholders in a project, where all consultants, contractors/subcontractors, and owners/developers have permission-based access and can collaborate on project tasks. This type of solution reduces the time consumed in finding key project information/status and decreases coordination errors.

Question 4: Where do you see the construction industry in the next five years? Please share your valuable insights with our readers.

I see a new wave of talent joining the industry, generating a more dynamic workforce that can apply different skill sets to our practice (application development, sensors, smart buildings, digital twins, etc.). Construction won't remain just a brick-and-mortar industry. The construction technology "sub-industry" will be embedded into day-to-day processes like tendering, procurement, value engineering, site monitoring, and more.
